DiskIf your console reports a disk read error only when inserting certain disks, chances are that the disk itself is faulty. Dust, grease and fingerprints can all contribute to the disk not working correctly. Clean the disks lightly with a soft cloth in a circular motion starting from the centre and working outwards. Take care of your disks by storing them in their cases and handling them by the edges.
Diagnostic ModeThe PlayStation 2 console has a diagnosis feature which can be used to automatically adjust settings for best possible playback of a particular disk. To participate diagnostic mode:
1) Turn on your PS2 and select “Console” using the directional pad followed by the triangle button.2) Select “On” and press the X button.3) Insert a disk and the console will automatically begin the diagnosis.
Note that the diagnosis setting will reset itself to “Off” when the console is restarted.
